§ 01What we do

Six disciplines, one file.

Nothing here is sold as a product. The audit team and the tax team sit on the same floor and read the same file, which is why the advice in March matches the accounts in September.

Audit & Assurance

A statutory audit should tell you something you did not already know.

We run audits that interrogate the business, not just the ledger. Fieldwork is planned around your reporting calendar so the process does not collide with your year end. Findings arrive as a written management letter with a partner sitting opposite you, not as a file dropped in a portal.

Scope

  • Statutory and voluntary audit under FRS 102 and FRS 105
  • Group and consolidated reporting
  • Charity SORP and academy trust engagements
  • Grant, lease and covenant certification
  • Internal control and systems review

Business Tax

Compliance is the floor. The work worth paying for happens before the year closes.

Corporation tax computations, capital allowances, R&D claims and group relief planning, handled in the same room as the people who prepare your accounts. Where a claim is arguable we tell you it is arguable, and we document the position properly so it survives an enquiry.

Scope

  • Corporation tax computation and return
  • Capital allowances and structures & buildings relief
  • R&D tax relief claims and defence
  • Group structuring and reorganisation
  • Construction Industry Scheme compliance

Private Client

For most owners, the company and the family balance sheet are one balance sheet.

Extraction planning, succession, property portfolios, trusts and residence. We look at the whole position across the family and across time, because a decision that saves tax this year and costs a relief in fifteen is not a saving.

Scope

  • Self assessment and partnership returns
  • Profit extraction and remuneration planning
  • Inheritance tax and business property relief
  • Trusts, estates and probate accounting
  • Residence, domicile and offshore reporting

Outsourced Finance

A finance function without the overhead of building one.

Bookkeeping, management accounts, payroll and VAT run on your systems by a named team you can call. You get board-ready numbers by the tenth working day, with commentary that says what moved and why, not a pack of exports.

Scope

  • Monthly management accounts with written commentary
  • Payroll, auto-enrolment and PAYE settlement
  • VAT returns and Making Tax Digital filing
  • Purchase ledger and credit control
  • Xero, Sage and NetSuite implementation

Corporate Finance

Most owners sell a business once. We have done it several hundred times.

Sale and acquisition, management buy-outs, fundraising and valuation. We model the deal, prepare the business for diligence, and sit on your side of the table through it. Fees are agreed at the outset against a defined scope.

Scope

  • Company sale and acquisition support
  • Management buy-out and buy-in structuring
  • Financial due diligence, buy and sell side
  • Valuations for transactions and disputes
  • Debt and equity fundraising

Advisory

The forecast matters more than the accounts. The accounts are already history.

Thirteen-week cash flow, scenario modelling, covenant headroom and business planning. Built once with you, then maintained, so when the bank, the board or a buyer asks a question, the answer already exists in a model somebody trusts.

Scope

  • Thirteen-week rolling cash flow
  • Three-statement forecasting and scenarios
  • Banking covenant monitoring and reporting
  • Business planning and board reporting
  • Profit improvement and cost review

Modelled quarterly

How an engagement runs

The year, not
the deadline.

  1. 01

    The first meeting

Ninety minutes, at our cost, with a partner. We read your last two sets of accounts before you arrive. You leave with two or three specific observations whether or not you engage us.

  2. 02

    Scope and fee

A written scope, a fixed annual fee, and the name of the partner and manager who will hold the file. No hourly billing, no charge for a phone call.

  3. 03

    The year, not the deadline

A planning meeting in month one, a review at the half year, and a pre-year-end meeting while there is still time to change the outcome. The compliance work is the by-product.

  4. 04

    Sign-off and after

Accounts signed, returns filed, and a written note of what we would do differently next year. Then the cycle starts again with that note as the agenda.
